Mr Mpho Motsumi , Executive President of the Greater Alexandra Chamber of Commerce & Industries (GALXCOC).

Born & bred in Alexandra Township. His passion is to bridge the social-economic gap between Alexandra & Sandton. He is active in the daily administration of Chamber movement as he is preoccupied with lobbying & advocacy around legislation and policy realization in business.

Charlene Heyburgh, Editor, Spotong Magazine

Charlene Heyburgh is the Editor of Spotong, SA’s number 1 township trade magazine, which speaks directly to business owners in townships across the country and informs, educates and empowers these business owners to grow their businesses whilst tackling industry issues that they as entrepreneurs face on a daily basis. Having edited numerous magazines over the past 12 years, Spotong is the highlight of her editing career and remains the magazine that she is most passionate about. Through Spotong, it is her mission to change the perception of SA’s townships.

Kgosi Rampa, Founder & Owner, Makhelwane Festival and LoCrate Market

Kgosi Rampa is the co-founder of the LoCrate Market, the first lifestyle market in Soweto. LoCrate has grown to become one of the biggest platforms for local artisan entrepreneurs to showcase their businesses in Joburg and attracts hundreds of visitors each month for its local take on fashion, food, live music and culture.

Colin Leshou , Provincial Manager, Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA)

Colin is the Provincial Manager of SEDA has been with the organization since 2013 and has held various managerial roles. He graduated from the University of Cape Town with a degree in development finance and an MBA from Gordin Institue for Business Studies.

Richard Chauke, Managing Director, Value Waste

Richard is the Managing Director of Value Waste, a waste management and recycling company in Soshanguve. Richard has a wealth of knowledge around the challenges and opportunities that come from operating in the township economy and has made personal contributions such as opening a recycling buy-back centre for his community.

Elvis Sekhaolelo, Founder and director, Ekasi Entrepreneurs

Elvis is the founder and director of Ekasi Entrepreneurs and holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Economic and Finance at the University of Cape Town and has an Executive Development Programme (EDP) in Foundations of Business from Stellenbosch.

Oliver Phaahla, Owner, Pick n Pay Alex Junction

Oliver worked at Pick n Pay as a casual while still a student at Vista University, he then joined the Pick n Pay franchise academy in 2007 & 2008 and opened his first Pick n Pay franchise store in Alexandra Pan Africa Mall. Oliver and his partner bought Pick n Pay Bara in Soweto in 2012 and sold it 2016. They also introduced a distribution company called Marena Distribution in partnership with CocaCola ABI MLP (Market Logistics Product) wherein they delivered Coca-Cola products in and around Alexandra. Oliver studied BA (law) and a BA honours degree in Public Administration as well as a Diploma in Retail Management.
