Kendal Makgamathe

Kendal Makgamathe is the Head of Brand and Business Development for Wits University’s Tshimologong Digital Innovation Precinct.
As part of his role, he is responsible for managing r the Precinct’s corporate partners at C-suite and senior management level, Kendal is as much at ease with country ambassadors as he is with start-up founders. As a former sports journalist, Kendal Makgamathe, is not averse to tackling a story head on, but with empathy. Kendal interviewed banned South African test cricketer, Alviro Petersen to tell his side of the story in the sensational Ram Slam T20 Cricket match-fixing scandal. He has also interviewed former Olympic and World 400metre champion and current record holder, Wayde van Niekerk. He has utilised his experience in journalism to weave the golden thread of the human story through all his work and finds that it creates value for both Tshimologong Precinct entrepreneurs and corporates alike. A career highlight for Kendal was curating the first Start-up Guide Johannesburg, a mapping exercise of the city’s entrepreneurship scene.
